assemble

I’ve been consulting for Assemble.me, a relatively new company based in New Zealand that was started by the very smart James Franklin.

Assemble is a platform devoted to supporting filmmakers’ marketing and distribution campaigns by creating the tools (and often also the key art and design) to allow independent filmmakers to build top level websites.

Assemble is called Assemble because, well, it assembles the DIY tools at a filmmakers’ disposal. For instance: Trailer widgets, social media audience building, request-a-screening functionality, and a built-in CMS… And more. Check out all the features here, and check out some examples of independent film sites that were built with Assemble: Secret Levels, Dirty Wars,  and more…

Why am I writing about this? Because Assemble is useful, and also because Assemble is an active example of a company that is devoted to smart design: Aesthetic, but no less functional. I like the company, and I encourage you to check it out for your next film.
